I really appreciate this article. Have you heard of the CA TECH program? They are required to publish program data including project costs and pricing. This is changing the market in CA given this transparency. I think it's a great step forward. The fact that I can enter "Alameda County" and see how many heat pumps a contractor has installed is massive. Whenever we publish our heat pump benchmarks, we pre-filter to select a group of ~30 heat pump contractors, and the first criteria is that we need to know that they actually install heat pumps. TECH Clean CA data makes it pretty easy, and I wish we had that here.
Of course, price transparency & quality are two other things. But TECH Clean CA allows me to select the top 50 installers at any given point in time, and to filter based on that. Mass Save should do something similar.
