I'm still a little surprised that Mitsubishi and so many other manufacturers went for R-454B over R-32 for the US market when R-32 has a much more robust track record of use around the world and R1234yf is patented. I mean hell, Mitsubishi released an R-32 VRF system in the EU market years ago, etc. Carrier's been using R-32 in Europe, etc. I'm not dialed in enough to the industry scuttlebutt anymore to know what else was at play here.

Yeah I don't know if this was a Mitsubishi-trying-to-create-a-walled-garden thing here or what, but fwiw Midea & Bosch are also notably coming out with some R-454b units. Going to be really interesting to see if contractors try to work with both or just specialize in one
